The Morocco national futsal team (the Atlas Lions of the Hall) were crowned champions of the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations «Morocco 2026» after defeating Angola 5-2 in the final held on the evening of Wednesday 21 October 2026 at the indoor hall of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
With this triumph, the Atlas Lions continue their continental dominance and claim the African title for the fourth consecutive time (2016, 2020, 2024, 2026), becoming the most decorated team in the competition’s history, ahead of Egypt, who have three titles.
Tournament path and the Atlas Lions’ performance
Morocco hosted the eighth edition of the tournament from 12 to 21 October 2026. The national team dominated the group stage in Group A with three clean victories: 4-0 against Algeria, then a resounding win over Zambia, and 6-0 against Libya, qualifying top of the group with 9 points and 17 goals scored without conceding any.
In the semi-final, the Atlas Lions crushed Egypt 6-0, while Angola qualified after beating Algeria 3-2.
Final goals
The goals for Morocco were scored by Othmane El Idrissi, Youssef Jawad, Idriss Raiss El Fenni, Ismail Amzal, and Bilal El Bakkali. Angola’s two goals came through Campangola and Fortes.
The national team players, led by coach Hicham Dguig, produced a high-quality technical performance based on high pressing and speed in attacking transitions, supported by a large crowd that filled the stands of the hall.
Historic achievement for Morocco
This title is the fourth crowning of a successful journey for the «Atlas Lions of the Hall», which has cemented Morocco’s position as the leading force in futsal in Africa. The team had previously been crowned in South Africa 2016, then on home soil in 2020 and 2024, and now achieves the historic feat of a fourth consecutive title on home soil again.
This triumph contributes to strengthening Morocco’s presence on the international stage, especially with qualification for the 2028 Futsal World Cup approaching, as the top three places in the tournament grant direct spots.
The players, the coaching staff, and the Moroccan fans celebrated this great achievement, affirming the continuation of Moroccan superiority in the game.
